AUTISM IN MEXICO
Study reveals that THERE may be 400,00 children & adolescents Currently affected by autism in mexico
At Niños con Autismo, we're concerned about the number of undiagnosed and under-served autistic children here in Mexico. It is estimated that 1 in every 80 children are on the autism spectrum.
Early diagnosis is critical and recent studies show that autism is being first diagnosed in the U.S. and Canada as 6 to 12 months. Our Mexican children are often not diagnosed until ages 3 or 4, if at all. This leaves a huge gap before services are started. Late diagnosis delays access to services and therapies and ultimately impacts the child's development and ability to be self-sufficient.
